Interview: “Panic in Detroit” — JG Yuruguay x The Detroit Oscillator (ARC 002 / Concrete Hypnosis) . Recorded in Ferndale, in Detroit’s orbit.
JG Yuruguay released "Concrete Hypnosis" (ARC 002) on December 24, 2025. This release marks a move away from the house-leaning feel of his debut toward a darker, colder sound. Described as "static on the outside, 135 BPM on the inside," the track pushes a relentless drive built more for long motion than for big-room peaks.
Born in Busan, South Korea, and raised in the Los Angeles club and DIY scenes, Jae-Geun Yoon is now based in Nishinomiya in western Japan. His work ties together the push of West Coast freeways with the raw, metallic edge of Japan’s industrial coast.
JG Yuruguay works in hard trance and rigid, forward-pushing techno. Moving away from his earlier lo-fi hard house experiments, his current output focuses on pieces built for the stretch between the last train and first light. The sound leans on rolling basslines, guitars processed into concrete scrape, and an ending that often refuses a neat payoff.
The artist operates through his official website at jguyusguy.org and releases through Bandcamp, where listeners can download and keep the files themselves. He treats the work less as standard releases and more as scraps and traces from the industrial strip he rides through every night.
